Terms of Service & License

For the HHchat and HHmail apps  ·  Last updated: 30 June 2026  ·  Jump to License

The apps are free for individuals and small teams of up to 10 people. Larger organisations need a paid commercial license, and larger non-profits qualify for special pricing. For licensing, contact [email protected].

1. Agreement

By using the apps you agree to these Terms and to the End User License Agreement below. If you do not agree, do not use the apps.

2. The service

HHchat is an end-to-end encrypted messenger. HHmail is a private email app with end-to-end encrypted sealed mail and the option to connect to your existing email accounts. The apps offer private network transports, including onion routing, to protect your network metadata.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction (for example, at least 13 in the United States or 16 where required). The apps are not directed to children below that age.

4. Acceptable use

You agree to use the apps only for lawful communication. You will not use the apps, or their privacy and anonymity features, to:

5. Your content and encryption

Your messages and mail are end-to-end encrypted. We cannot access their content and we do not monitor them. You are solely responsible for what you send and receive. Because content is encrypted, you are responsible for your own backups; we cannot recover lost messages or keys.

6. Third-party accounts (HHmail)

If you connect an external mailbox (for example over IMAP and SMTP, or via an OAuth provider such as Microsoft or Google), your use of that account is also subject to that provider's terms, and that provider handles the mail you send and receive through it.

7. Licensing

Use of the apps is governed by the End User License Agreement below: free for personal use and small organisations, a paid license for larger organisations, and special pricing for larger non-profits.

8. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or end access for breach of these Terms or the License, or where required by law. You may stop using the apps at any time.

9. Disclaimers

The apps are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation, or that the privacy transports will be reachable on every network.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the apps.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be posted with a new date; continued use after a change takes effect means you accept it.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which HyveHeim is established, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.

End User License Agreement

The licensing terms for HHchat and HHmail.

1. Acceptance

By installing or using the apps (the "Software") you agree to this License and to the Terms of Service above. If you do not agree, do not use the Software.

2. Definitions

  • Personal Use: use by an individual person for their own private, personal, non-commercial communication.
  • Commercial Use: any use by or on behalf of an Organisation, including use for its operations, use by staff, contractors, members, or volunteers in the course of its activities, and use to provide any service to others, whether or not for a fee. Use by a sole trader, freelancer, or self-employed person for their business, professional, or client work is Commercial Use.
  • Organisation: any company, partnership, sole trader acting in business, firm, government or public body, association, charity, or other entity, whether or not operated for profit.
  • Non-Profit: a registered charity or non-profit organisation.
  • Small Organisation: an Organisation (including a sole trader, small business, or small non-profit) with 10 or fewer people in total, counting employees, partners, members, and regular contractors.

3. License grant: Personal Use and Small Organisations (free)

We grant you a free, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Software for (a) Personal Use and (b) use by a Small Organisation, subject to this License and the Terms of Service. In plain terms: individuals, sole traders, and small teams of up to 10 people may use the Software for free.

4. Larger organisations require a paid license

Commercial Use by an Organisation that is larger than a Small Organisation (more than 10 people in total) requires a separate paid commercial license from us. To obtain one, contact [email protected]. Pricing depends on your usage and is provided on request.

5. Non-Profit and charity licensing

A Non-Profit that is a Small Organisation may use the Software for free. A larger Non-Profit requires a license for organisational use and is eligible for special pricing, which is assessed on application. To apply, contact [email protected].

6. Restrictions

You may not: (a) use the Software beyond a Small Organisation without a current paid license; (b) misrepresent your use, or your Organisation's size or status, to obtain a free or reduced license; (c) use the Software unlawfully or in breach of the Terms of Service; or (d) remove or alter proprietary notices. Any components we publish separately under an open-source license are governed by their own license terms; this License covers the apps as distributed through the app store.

7. Ownership

The Software and all intellectual property rights in it remain ours and our licensors'. This License grants a license, not a sale.

8. No warranty; limitation of liability

The Software is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. See the Terms of Service.

9. Termination

This license ends automatically if you breach it, including any use beyond a Small Organisation without a paid license. On termination you must stop using the Software.

10. Honesty and compliance

The free license relies on honest self-classification, including an honest count of your Organisation's total size. If your Organisation is larger than a Small Organisation, you are responsible for obtaining the correct license. We reserve the right to require, and to recover, the appropriate license fees for any unlicensed Commercial Use.

11. Changes

We may update this License. Continued use after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
